Let’s Get Started!
Our first order of business was to repair the damaged rear quarter. We cut the damaged section out, and cut a new piece to fit the opening left behind,(courtesy of a parts Vette).
The quarter panel was reattached to the original body mount using GM approved structural adhesive. As an additional strengthening measure, we used structural cloth backing on the repaired section.
The resulting repair is strong enough that you’ll crack the surrounding SMC, rather than the repaired joint itself!
Afterward, we used a skim coat of body filler and sanded the repair area to match the body line (a lot of work went into this!).
